Creed Humphrey – Offensive Center Oklahoma Sooners 2021 NFL Draft Scouting Report
CREED HUMPHREY | Oklahoma | OC | # 56 | rJr | 6040 | 316 | 5.20th | Shawnee, OK | Shawnee | 06.28
A competitive wrestler since the age of four, Humphrey comes from a family of grapplers and shows up on match day with his exceptional hand fight. It has a nice chunky base and lower half with a wide body from shoulder to shoulder, but its overall build is athletic, not sloppy at all for a 316lb. A strong anchor in passing protection and a mauler in the running game, Humphrey is strong in the country, posing as a freshman squatting over 600 pounds. In 2018, he took center stage in the Sooners’ offensive line which won the Joe Moore Award and featured four starters who were drafted into the NFL. Humphrey was arguably the best player in the group. One of the reasons is his high football IQ and his ability to rise to the level of competition, being the most successful in big games. He has exhibited a rare level of maturity, making all the calls and tweaks before engagement and displaying a formidable awareness on second level blocks. Being pushed into action from the start, there has certainly been a learning curve with issues on range blocks and identifying which ones are delaying, pulling, or looping. However, he continued to make great strides, proving to be an exceptional pass blocker with excellent balance and exceptional leverage. The sky is the limit for Humphrey, who has started 39 games in his three seasons and head coach Lincoln Riley has said he’s a dominant center who doesn’t come back very often.
Rated as a Four Star Prospect by 247Sports and Scout and a Three Star Rookie by ESPN and Rivals. He had 35 tackles and one sack as a defensive lineman in his senior season. Chose Oklahoma over Alabama, Oklahoma State and Texas A&M, among others. Specialized in finance.
“He’s a guy we all know he could leave, but just his character and the way he cares about this team and these players, it’s a brotherhood. Kudos to Creed for hanging on more and it improves all of our comfort levels. The coaches too, just knowing that we have a vet up front who will guide us and finish the season with us. —Oklahoma QB Spencer Rattler on the bowl game
