The Tesla Model Y remains an increasingly popular choice for families looking to go electric. As a result, YouTuber RSymons RSEV recently posted a video of how his Y held up during its first 1100 miles of family use.
He first talked about the things he didn’t like. The ride is firm and uncomfortable on some UK roads. Potholes and speed bumps can be particularly difficult. The car was also not clean when he picked it up and the paintwork was partially damaged. The headlights are not as good and responsive as those of its ID.4, with too high beams. There are also no lights for the handles – a feature often found in luxury cars today.
He then moved on to the positives. The Model Y is the perfect size for him and his family, while the driving position is excellent. Visibility is excellent and the white interior is very durable. Rear legroom is also good, with plenty of room for four adults in total. The trunk/trunk is best in class, with plenty of space. The frunk also offers plenty of storage space and is deeper than in the Model 3. Inside it can also fit a decent amount of stuff in the center console (watch the video to see just how much).
The Model Y has BioDefense mode as standard, which RSymons says works well when driving in polluted areas or behind trucks. The app works brilliantly, while the software in the car is excellent in every way.
In terms of actual range, it manages between 240 and 280 miles. It is important to note that it has a long range Y model, not a performance. It does, however, have the larger 20″ induction wheels which are less efficient than the 19″ alloys that come standard.
Symons concluded that the Model Y was, for him at least, pretty close to being the perfect family electric vehicle. Convenient, efficient, and packed with cutting-edge technology, this is a set that’s tough to beat.
