If you are looking for a new minivan, an excellent choice is the 2022 Toyota Sienna. As a long-standing model, the Toyota minivan is recognized as a reliable and premium option. However, there are several trim levels to choose from. Which 2022 Toyota Sienna model is the best?
How many versions of Toyota Sienna 2022 are there?
First, the 2022 Toyota Sienna minivan is available in six trim levels. These are LE, XLE, XSE, XLE Woodland Edition, Limited and Platinum. Prices range from $36,500 to over $50,000, depending on how many features customers want. Additionally, every Sienna model comes with the same hybrid powertrain. According to Edmunds, it’s an ultra-smooth ride option, although it doesn’t speed up the competition. However, the hybrid powertrain is worth it for the fuel economy, which is best in class at 36 mpg city and 36 mpg highway.
Edmunds recommends the Toyota Sienna XLE
First, Edmunds thinks the best version of the 2022 Toyota Sienna is the XLE model. Starting at $41,790, the minivan is available with seven or eight seats for the same price. Plus, the post likes that it adds a lot of comfort and convenience features without adding a lot of cost. Plus, more options open up with the XLE model, like a rear entertainment system.
Every Sienna XLE is a big step up from the base model for just a few thousand extra dollars. For example, keyless push-button start, keyless entry, rear power liftgate, four-zone automatic climate control, power passenger seat, sunroof, eight-speaker audio system, auto-dimming rearview mirror, leatherette la upholstery, heated front seats and leather-wrapped steering wheel all unlock for the XLE trim level. Additionally, an optional XLE Plus package adds black roof rails, wireless charging, a 12-speaker JBL audio system and an integrated navigation system.

While experts sometimes agree on the best version of a vehicle, that’s not the case with the 2022 Toyota Sienna. Car and Driver’s favorite version of the minivan is the XSE model. Plus, it’s a step up from Edmunds’ recommended XLE trim level. C/D calls the XSE version “sporty” and likes that it comes with 20-inch wheels, “more aggressive” bumpers and sports front seats. Plus, the in-dash navigation and captain’s chairs make it a bit more desirable.
There are only a few upgrades when you go from the XLE to the XSE version. Most of the time, the differences are purely aesthetic, for example, the black exterior trim, the mesh grille and the different seats. However, the feature upgrades are the same as the XLE Plus package. As a result, buyers who don’t like the look of the XSE model can buy a Sienna XLE with the Plus package for almost the same minivan.
The Best 2022 Toyota Sienna Model
In conclusion, every version of the Toyota Sienna minivan is a viable option. However, some are better than others. We think the XLE trim level is the best value choice. The combination of safety and convenience features with a reasonable price is always outstanding. While the XSE trim is nice, we’re not sure the looks are worth the extra $3,000. Especially when comfort and convenience features are available for the XLE with the XLE Plus package. Which 2022 Toyota Sienna model do you think is the best?
